Our Dog Sadie

March 8th 2008 was a sad day at our house. We've had to say good bye to our much loved family member Sadie. She was with me/us for 13 long years. It was really only since moving to Calgary that her health began to diminish.
Some of my fondest memories of her are up in Collingwood out back playing frisbie. The lake at Collingwood fetching sticks. Stemmle's cottage and swimming for endless hours and fetching the stick in the water.
When I lived in London she would come with me to work at the Travel Agency and entertain the cusomers while I put together their trips.

We added another dog Max to our family this past summer, and he was a great companion for her. It really kept her young. Max really misses his Sadie too. She has been with me during some of the biggest changes I have experienced. Getting married, having kids, moving out West.

Sadie's final resting spot will be up in Collingwood were she loved it so much.
I plan on sprinkling her ashes out back of the condo and at the lake.
So long old girl.

Baby its Cold out here!!!!!!!!!

Just when you think winter is not so bad.....wham.....mother nature comes in for the kill.
I don't think I have ever been in colder weather in my life before.
Just went through my second day of "high temp of -28" This is friggin CRAZY weather. I think with the wind chill....and there was a wind today it was -45. I walked Caitlyn from the car into school and I had the worst ice cream headache ever and it was only my eyes showing on my face. I would have worn sunglasses but it was still dark out, and I may have slipped and fallen on some ice patch that had not been de iced (too cold for salt to melt ice) Caitlyn starts school bright and early at 8am....lucky me huh? I didn't take her on Monday....I thought with it being around -40 out at 8am what mother in her right mind would take a child to school. I guess everyone does....at least here in Calgary. They do not close schools really for anything. I talked to my cousin and she remembers the last "snow day" being back in 1997!!!! I did not grow up on the prairies which makes me very naive about these things. The schools were open...I thought they must be crazy. In Ontario we would be having 3 days off school. Not here....no not here...
I am not in Ontario any more....not in Ontario anymore....not in Ontario anymore.....I must keep reminding myself of that. No snow days here in Calgary!!!! No snow plows either.....that is another whole story in itself.
Can I make it through another day? I hope so!!!!!

Banff Springs Hotel Getaway midweek....AHHHHH!!!!!

Well......Where do I begin.
We just happened to go last minute to a conference for Scotts work at the Banff Springs Hotel. Need I say more. What a fantastic mini vacation it was!!!! In all my days of travel, I have always wanted to stay there. Well I have finally done it, and with two kids in tow. Caitlyn calls it the Princess Castle. Matthew thought we had to stay a one week minimum.
We had a fantastic time. And still got some photos in. For everyone who knows me it is what I REALLY like to do. These are four of my favorite. I think I may have taken at least 100 or more. May update some of the others later.....ENJOY!!!!!

Just tick on photo to take you to the slideshow.

Caitlyn turned 5 years old on October 29th. I can't believe she is that old already, and learning to read at school. The little Fairy Princesses enjoyed themselves at the party, and Matthew had fun as Peter Pan.

Slideshow of Caitlyn's Princess Camp August 2007

Just tick on the photo and slideshow will start. If you want a larger view tick on the yellow person in the left hand side of slideshow it will take you to the album directly. Enjoy

Caitlyn attended a one week Princess camp this summer. The hours were gruelling. From 9am until 530pm daily.....learning proper princess etiquite. Learning all the princess dance moves.
Eating like a princess and minding your manners. Oh they did have some fun.
Caitlyn met the twins and on the day they all had on the same bathing suite they decided that they were no longer the twins but now triplets. That was too funny Caits coming home...."mommy mommy I am now a triplet". She had so much fun that every day when I came to pick her up she would say "mommy go home, I am not ready to leave yet." Now that was a switch.

Hangin' Out at the Lake

March 2007 - A day trip to Lake Louise. We drove up and had lunch at the Post Hotel in the village, then went to see the remnants of the ice sculptures at the Chateau. Scott hiked all over these mountains when he spent a year here back in 1992, and he tobogganed off the peak of Mount St. Piran. It may be a couple of years before the munchkins are up for a walk to the tea house.
